Yesterday I attended to a lecture, represented by an Iranian- American professor, Dr. Astaneh. He was chosen as the Principal Investigator of the research project on the collapse of the WTC after barbaric terrorist attack in September, 11. His lecture was in two parts. First part was about his investigations on WTC and in the second period he talked about Bam earthquake.
The first topic was interesting for me in some instances. He indicated some of the reasons for collapsing the WTC. He said: “One of the main reasons was the insufficient use of substances for insulating the buildings' metal bars. When these towers were being built, the Mafia was very powerful and was involved in the construction of the WTC. Using the insufficient insulation materials because of high costs was one of the results of this involvement. Also, no permission was needed from the municipality for constructing these buildings. Not having any inspections caused these problems. We showed in computer based software that if all technical matters had been followed completely with standards, the crash of planes into the buildings would have only damaged the upper part of the twin towers and would not have caused, in any way, the collapse of the towers. I once said that if we were given a few years to plan for the collapse of the towers as they did, we would not have succeeded. The crash of the planes into the buildings caused the ensuing fire. The jet fuel was only enough for 5 minutes of the fire. Papers and computers also played important roles in the ensuing fire. If all standard points were followed, the wings of the planes would not have been able to enter the towers. 80% of the jet fuel is under the wings. All these and many more technical reasons caused the collapse of the Twin Towers.”
Story of Dr. Azam is getting exciting and complicated. In one hand Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Hamid Reza Asefi, officially said that there was no record of Shahram Azam working as doctor in the hospital where he said he saw evidence of flogging and torture on Kazemi’s body. Also an Iranian prominent MP, belonged to a so-called opposition group, without mentioning Dr. Azam’s name, almost in the same words, said that the name of the individual (Dr. Azam) was not on the list of doctors who were working on that mysterious night. But in the other hand Dr. Azam, in an interview (in Persian) with BBC, announced he had all credible documents to prove that he was a doctor, an army, working at Baghiatallah hospital, and also he was in the hospital at that specific night and examined Kazemi’s tortured body.
Couple of days ago one of Stephan’s lawyers during an interview with CBC television said he and his colleagues had been in contact with Dr. Azam for months and they had done all the necessary researches about his testimony before inviting him to Canada. He declared that they made contact with many reliable sources in Iran in order to verify all Dr. Azam’s statements.
What a shame. Almost two years after Zahrah Kazemi’s horrible death, Canada’s foreign affair minister says Canada knew that Kazemi’s death was not caused by an accident. He had his comment after an Iranian doctor who was in charge of examining Kazemi in emergency room, represented a very disturbing and heart breaking testimony of Kazemi’s condition at the night she was taken to the hospital. Shahram Azam, former Iranian army doctor, said he examined Zahra Kazemi in a military hospital in Tehran on June 26, 2003, and noticed horrific injuries to her entire body that could only have been caused by torture and rape. It was just a few days after she was arrested for taking photographs outside a Tehran prison during student-led protests against the ruling theocracy.
There has never been a doubt that Kazemi has been murdered and the evidences represented by Dr. Azam are not so new for the people. But the thing the people, Iranians or Canadians, wants to know is why Canadian Government has been disregarding this obvious case of murdering for long time? Why they don’t help Kazemi’s only son to take the case in an international court in order to get justice done? Why they didn’t take serious steps to get Kazemi’s body back to Canada? Why they don’t recall Canadian ambassador in Iran? Why they don’t send back Iranian ambassador to Iran? Why they keep just talking instead of acting seriously? why they are shaking hands with devils??
I was watching the Dr. Azam’s testimony on TV. For me the most heart breaking part of it was the time Stephan Hashemi talked about being alone and helpless in persuading his mother’s case. He has been suffering a lot for almost two years. But as he said he would not give up his effort. Canadian Government must help him if they believe in justice and human rights.
